Mission & values

Our founding story

We grew up in the water and on the mat — surfing, sailing and practicing yoga. Over time, we became increasingly disappointed with the limits of conventional products on the market.

Despite paying a premium for top-tier gear, the materials were often made of petroleum and packed with industrial chemicals. Curious and concerned, we took a closer look at what’s inside yoga mats and wetsuits. What are we actually wearing against our skin for hours at a time?

The materials we spent hours with direct skin contact with were full of harmful chemicals, skin irritants, and PFAS. Even the wetsuits or yoga mats advertised as made from natural rubber still were made with harmful chemicals to achieve higher performance properties. Some of the worst chemicals found in conventional wetsuits and yoga mats are now being phased out in the EU and US due to their links to serious health risks, from immune disruption to reproductive harm.

We founded Billoba to build a better alternative that brands and consumers can trust. A new generation of high-performance and innovative rubber that customers can feel safe in. No trade-offs. No greenwashing. Just performance, sustainability, and health.
